Approximately six months have passed since the fire in September 2025 dramatically altered the landscape of our training center. Although that event posed substantial challenges for the Flint/Saginaw Electrical JATC, it also presented a unique opportunity to develop a facility tailored to advancing the electrical industry.

We are pleased to announce that we are currently evaluating various blueprint options for our new training center.

More Space, More Power

Historically, operations were conducted from a single-story facility. As the electrical industry has progressed—embracing smarter grids, renewable energy, and complex automation—the need for expanded space has become evident. This project is not simply a rebuilding initiative; it represents a significant advancement.

The proposed design features a two-story facility that will greatly enhance our capacity to train future journeymen.

Expanded Classrooms: State-of-the-art learning environments equipped with technology for comprehensive apprentice training.

New Meeting Rooms: Purpose-built spaces for effective collaboration between JATC leadership and industry partners.

A Large Laboratory Section: Serving as the core of the facility, this area is devoted to hands-on training labs where apprentices can engage in realistic simulations within a modern, controlled environment.

Forging the Future

By adopting a two-story layout, we are optimizing our site to ensure Flint/Saginaw Electrical JATC to set the benchmark for electrical training excellence in Michigan. This building will serve not only as a physical structure, but as an active resource for learning and development.

While we remain in the preliminary planning phase with each step bringing us closer to launching a new era of training.
